In 2021, we will be doing a church-wide devotional called the New City Catechism!
Beginning January 3, 2021, we will include a segment in our Sunday service to draw your attention to the catechism question for the upcoming week. We will read the question and the answer during the service and encourage and remind you to spend the following week in prayerful meditation while reading the devotional content and related Scriptures.
We look forward to growing together in 2021!

52 Weekly Devotions
First, don’t let the term “catechism” discourage you from engaging in this wonderful resource. The term “catechism” is simply defined as: “a summary of Christian doctrine taught through questions and answers”.
The devotional is divided into three parts to make it easier to learn in sections and to include some helpful divisions:
Part 1: God, creation and fall, law (twenty questions)
Part 2: Christ, redemption, grace (fifteen questions)
Part 3: Spirit, restoration, growing in grace (seventeen questions)
As with most traditional catechisms, a Bible verse accompanies each question and answer. In addition, each question and answer is followed by a short commentary taken from the writings or sayings of a past preacher as well as a commentary from a contemporary preacher to help students meditate on and think about the topic being explored. Each question ends with a short, original prayer.
The weekly readings are short, written in contemporary language, and very accessible and practical.
We hope this resource can be a supplemental option to your family’s pursuit of God – regardless of the age of your kids.
The New City Catechism comes with a free smartphone app to make engagement easier and convenient.
In addition, there is a “kids mode” in the app and the online version that provides a unique song for each of the 52 catechism questions! These songs are fun and aid the memorization process for the whole family. (Deut. 6:4-9)
rightly handle god's truth
In an ever-increasing and secular age, it is imperative that Christians are equipped to rightly discern between truth vs lies and good vs evil.
This devotional will equip you to learn and share the essential doctrines of the Christian faith that will form a firm foundation for the rest of your Christian life. (2 Tim. 2:15, 3:16)
