Frequently Asked Questions
What Denomination is Your Church?
The Mission Church is an independent body of believers without a denominational affiliation. For specific doctrinal questions, take a look at what we believe.
What should I wear?
Everyone is welcome at The Mission Church and we want you to be comfortable. Dress is casual, come as you are.
How can I become a member?
We want to make sure that every member of The Mission Church understands and believes the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is where our relationship as followers of Jesus begins. We also know that you will have many questions about The Mission Church and our core beliefs and values. To assist potential members, our TMC Membership Class is offered several times throughout the year. In this class we discuss:
- The Mission – Why we exist as a church.
- Core Beliefs & Values – The foundation of the ministry.
- Church Leadership – How the church is governed.
- Our Covenant – How we live as followers of Jesus.
Please contact the church office at 515.255.2122 or email us at info@themissiondsm.org to inquire about our next TMC Membership Class.
How do I know my children are safe?
We take security very seriously. If you are new to our church, please look for the Guest sign just to your left as you enter the main doors. Once registered, your children will receive a name tag as well as a security tag which must be presented at pick up time. All staff and volunteers must go through an application process to be a part of our TMC Kids Team which includes a background check.
Where and When is your service?
We meet every Sunday at 10:00 A.M. The Mission Church is located at 12001 Ridgemont Drive in Urbandale, Iowa. You can expect our service to last about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
What is a service like?
Our music is Christ-centered, drawing our hearts to focus on the glory and splendor of God. You will experience a variety of music styles here. The weekly message is taken from the Bible, presented in an “expositional” style. Expository preaching is a form of preaching that details the meaning of a particular text or passage of Scripture. It explains what the Bible means by what it says. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where you can connect with Christ and build relationships with others.
Do children attend service with parents?
We will always welcome your children in our weekend Worship services. However, we believe children learn best in a setting created just for them. We have programming for your child ages birth through 6th grade while you are engaged in Worship. To learn more about our children’s programming, check out our Kid’s Ministry Page.
